Darkness and weather

When I arrived in Turku in August, the weather was warm and there was a lot of sunshine. Coming closer to the end of my winter semester here, the weather has changed quite a bit. After the sunny days were over the wind started to become stronger and with the wind came the cold. In the end of September I already started wearing my warmer jackets, not the winter jacket yet, but a warm one. With the beginning of October came the cold air. Between 1° and -3° C were quite normal during that time and I started to use my winter jacket. After some time the darkness came crawling over Turku and when I had a longer day at TUAS I wasn't able to catch any sunlight. The natural light around me also became more dull and had to be supported by artificial light. When November came, we had some snow, which was really nice. Everything got brighter and when we had sunlight everything started sparkling. It was beautiful, but unfortunately it is very rainy in Turku and therefore the snow was gone way too soon. We had a week in November where it was just raining and raining, it was very frustrating because as an exchange student you want to go out and explore the country but with rainy weather this is just not nice and you have to stay inside. Luckily, I had a lot to do during this week and just jumped between TUAS, home and the library. But after this week the rain turned into snow and when December came and the 30th of November, which is the day when they light the Christmas tree in front of the Cathedral the city was covered under a light layer of snow and Steffi told me, when they lit the tree it even started snowing. But now mid December, the snow is gone again and the light is only here for a few hours. When you are easily affected by the weather and the lack of light... I have one suggestion for you... go out and do something with your friends, even when it is just watching movies together, but they make your day brighter and warm your heart.
