The city is in western Finland around 3 h away by train ride from Turku. The city has about 63.366 inhabitants inside and 46.639 outside the city center. Compared to Turku it is a cute little city and I am not sure if would have visited, when I wouldn't have friends there, who also study for one semester abroad. I have to say when I arrived at the train station it was the first time that I felt as if I was in the North. There was a lot of snow and the people were very nice. Something that was different from Turku was, that the cars always stopped, when you walk the cross road. In Turku this is not always the case... We walked around the city for a bit and my friends showed us the University of applied sciences Seinäjoki, which was all nice but the best part was the lake. We walked about 30 min from the Student village to a lake near the city and just arrived when the sun started setting. It was truly breathtaking! One guy even jumped into the lake, at - 7 °C! But he was crazy anyways because he only wore short pants in the cold. I asked him why and he said that he is an athlete and it is a good training for him.
I would say the city itself is okay, there is not much to see, unless you want to see a small city in Finland, but the landscapes around the city are amazing!
So when you have a friend you can visit up in Seinäjoki and drink some Glögi with, I would definitely recommend going there.
Oh and fun fact, there is a asteroid called 1512 Seinäjoki, named after the city. It was discovered by Yrjö Väisälä at the southwester Turku Observatory.
