My Trip and Arrival in Turku

So my journey begins... on the 25. August 2019.

The past weeks were really nice, i spend a lot of time with my family and my friends and tried to get as many sun rays and as much good food from my mum as possible because I knew, that there is probably not much sun in Finland and I have too cook for my own and well... lets say I really don´t like cooking!

But the big day came and it was time to go to the airport and fly to Finland. I´m really lucky, that I don´t have to start this trip on my own, but with a fellow exchange student from the same university and even though I haven´t met her yet, I knew we would get along.

So I met Steffi at the Airport and we hit it off right away, I guess people in the same situation are destined to become friends!

I flew from Munich to Helsinki and then I had to take the train to Turku, Steffi had a direct flight to Turku so we split up in Helsinki but we have an Airbnb together for the first week, before we move in to the student village, so I knew I would see her in a few hours. Unfortunetly was our flight delayed and that´s why Steffi missed her connecting flight to Turku and had to wait at the airport.

When I arrived in Turku it was my task to find our Airbnb and meet the owner. So I started walking with my huge luggage and no real direction, Google maps was pretty much my best friend at that moment! After 30 min walking up a hill, over a bridge, down some stairs and on a gravel path... remember I had my luggage with more than 20 kg ... I finally arrived and got the key. I was done for today!

About 1 h later did Steffi arrive and we went to K market to do some shopping and then we went straight to bed.

So my tip for everyone going to Turku, try to find out how to get to your accommodation by bus, because the city is quite big to go by foot and the public transport system is really nice here and also cheap, at least way cheaper than going by Taxi! Try to avoid that, it costs a fortune...

The bus is also the best way to get to IKEA, which you will definitely need if you move into the Student village.. the rooms are equipped with the necessities but to make it more cozy IKEA is the way to go!
